Smosh- The Digital Marketing Journey So Far

As I reflect on this month’s coursework, I see the connections between our lessons and my ongoing work on Smosh’s digital marketing plan. The framework we learned for dissecting an organization’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) gave me a practical foundation for Smosh’s unique positioning in digital entertainment. By identifying where Smosh excels—its strong brand recognition, creative content, and engaged fanbase—versus where it may face challenges in a competitive digital space, I feel more equipped to develop a targeted strategy that builds on its strengths and mitigates potential risks.

Furthermore, applying a PESTEL analysis (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, and Legal factors) has allowed me to anticipate how broader industry trends might impact Smosh. For instance, Smosh operates in a rapidly changing digital landscape, and understanding how shifts in platform algorithms or increased scrutiny on social media regulations might affect content reach and engagement will be crucial for their long-term planning. Analyzing these external forces helps ground my strategies in real-world factors, ensuring they remain relevant and adaptable.

Competitor analysis has also played a major role in shaping my understanding of Smosh’s position. Comparing Smosh’s engagement tactics and content style to those of other YouTube-based comedy brands has highlighted potential areas for differentiation.
